Around 1 mln ha of spring crops were killed by dust storms April 14-20
According to preliminary data from examination of plantings, about 1 million hectares of spring crops were killed by dust storms on April 14-20, which caused blowing off, cutting upper parts of shootings and dusting plants with earth (up to 4 cm in height), Tetyana Adamenko, Head of Agro-Meteorological Department of Ukrainian Weather Centre has informed today.
The gravest damage was caused to the farms in Kherson, Zaporozhye regions and AR Crimea, in a smaller degree - to Dnepropetrovsk region. Ms. Adamenko said dust storms of a similar strength in spring had not been observed in Ukraine for 25 years.
