The first plant for recycling falsified plant protection chemicals constructed in Ukraine

Ukrainian company Elga has completed construction in Sumy region of the first plant for recycling falsified plant protection chemicals, confiscated from illegal turnout, Head of the State Plant Protection Inspectorate Vasyl Kolisnichenko has told journalists of Interfax-Ukraina news agency.

He said the plant had been constructed on the initiative of the Inspectorate, because of the problem with utilisation of the confiscated PPC.

He said the specialists were now studying the issue of financing the recycling, which would cost in the new plant $1 to 2 per kilogram. He said it was possible that the payment would be charged on owners of the falsified stuff.

He also said that the Inspectorate was now carrying on negotiations with some Ukrainian and Russian companies about constructing some more plants like that.

According to specialists, falsified and smuggled PPC take up about 18 percent of Ukrainian market of industrially packaged chemicals and about 50 percent of small packaging.

Size of Ukrainian market of PPC is estimated at $110 million per year.
