WB wants to assess Ukrainian banks as for their participation in rural investment projects
The World Bank asks commercial banks of Ukraine "as soon as possible" to submit their 2002 audit reports according to international standards, in order to assess their possible participation in the WB rural investments projects, the WB's appeal states.
The appeal has been sent to 50 largest Ukrainian banks, measured by size of their assets.
The Bank reminds that within the framework of its Aid Strategy to Ukraine for 2003-2007 it prepares, in particular, a project of financing rural development in Ukraine.
Negotiations between Ukraine and the Bank about preparation and realisation of this project were started in November 2001. It is to be realised in two stages, four and three years in duration. Its total cost is to constitute approximately $275 million, of which $200 million will be the funds of the long-term credit and the remaining $75 million - the funds of Ukrainian party.
