Court decided to bail out L. Kozachenko
Pechersk District Court of Kiev has decided today to release former Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture Leonid Kozachenko under personal responsibility of People's Deputies. According to Kozachenko's lawyer Ihor Usenko, on June 12 the court has taken decision to change the preventive measure for Kozachenko from imprisonment to release into bail.
Some time before 152 People's Deputies applied to General Prosecutor Sviatoslav Piskun with a request to change the preventive measure for Kozachenko.
As it has already been reported, on March 24 this year the General Prosecutor's Office started criminal case against Kozachenko on accusation of office abuse, resulting in grave consequences, and tax avoidance in especially large scale. According to Ukraine's Criminal Code the first of the crimes entails 5 to 8 years of imprisonment the second one - 5 to 10 years.
L. Kozachenko held the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture since June 2001 till November 2002.
