Ukraine Potato Club will hold its first meeting on February 25, 2010!
Potato business of Ukraine is growing rapidly with large players gradually expanding their production. However, it is not easy to find good quality graded and sorted potatoes in Ukrainian supermarkets, which limits further market development.
Several key potato growers of Ukraine jointly with Ukraine Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Project of IFC decided to join forces and develop an industry recognized standard for potatoes and a grading system. IFC jointly with Dutch and Ukrainian experts has been studying this problem and is ready to offer several solutions, which could include close cooperation between potato growers, seed suppliers, PHH equipment suppliers, wholesalers and retailers with the support of the Fruit-Inform.
This would be the first practical step of the Ukraine's potato industry to improve its image and promote consumption of potatoes commercially grown in Ukraine. We expect that during the meeting Potato Club of Ukraine will be created to address these and many other issues of behalf of the potato industry.
The first meeting of the Ukraine Potato Club will take place on the 25th of February at 16:40 in Lviv in the conference room of the wholesale market "Shuvar" within the framework of the Potato of Ukraine 2010 Conference. The Conference will be held on the largest potato and fresh produce wholesale market of Ukraine in the city of Lviv.
