Ukrainian bakeries want preferential grain imports
Ukrainian bakery plants intend to apply to the government with a proposal to introduce preferential import of grain. They will ask for cancellation of import duty and postponement of charging VAT in imports of grain to Ukraine. This was said by a member of supervisory board of company "Krymkhleb" (Crimean Bread) Vladimir Slabovsky at a press-conference in the news agency Interfax-Ukraina.
The owners of bakery plants think these measures will allow increasing volumes of grain import to the country at acceptable prices, which will stabilise situation both in the grain and flour markets and in the baking industry.
The current rates of import duty for milling wheat in Ukraine are 80 and 40 euros per tonne (preferential rate). The duties for milling rye are 40 and 20 euros per tonne (preferential rate). These duties do not apply to imports of milling grains from Russia and Kazakhstan.
