Ukraine continues combating locusts
As of Friday morning, the total area of plantings affected by locusts in Kherson Region constituted 110,000 hectares. According to the Ministry for Emergency Situations, 48,000 hectares of the affected area have been treated with insecticides. 46 brigades of state plant protection stations, two planes of the Yak-52 series, a helicopter and three hang-gliders are involved in the works of treating the affected planings. In case of necessity, a militarised unit of biological protection of mine rescue detachment, subordinated to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and located in Marganets (Dnepropertovsk Region), will be also involved in the works.
The works are also continued for extermination of the locust nidi in Zaparozhye Region. As of Friday morning, 49,300 hectares of the affected areas have been treated with insecticides.
