Spread of locusts continues in two regions of Ukraine

In Kherson Region of Ukraine as of July 8 a nidus distribution of locusts has been registered on the area of 77,260 hectares. 61,480 hectares of the affected area have been treated with insecticides (980 hectares have been treated in one day), web-site of the Ministry for Emergencies has informed.

46 brigades of the state plant protection stations, 7 airplanes and 5 helicopters have been involved in the work.

Measures to prevent spread of locusts have been taken in Zaporzhye Region. The total area of plantings which require treatment is 69,900 hectares. As of July 8 the insecticides were applied on 52,200 hectares of the affected area.
