Ukraine is expected to increase apple production in 2010 unlike most countries in Europe

According to WAPA (the World Apple and Pear Association) in 2010 Ukraine would be one of the few European countries where apple production would increase by at least 5%. The www.fruit-inform.com experts think that the production increase will be more significant and would amount to 10-15% mainly thanks to area expansion of intensive fruit-bearing orchards .

Despite higher production demand for Ukrainian apple, according to Head of www.fruit-inform.com Andriy Yarmak, would grow substantially thanks to smaller supply of apples in the EU and Russia. This would support apple prices, which are expected to be 20-30% higher than in the past season.

Detailed information about Ukrainian apple market is available in the newly completed fundamental study: “Apples of Ukraine: situation and prospects of production, storage, post harvest handling, processing, and marketing” .
