MinTrans wants to square forwarding activities in Ukrainian ports. Marine agencies are opposing

According to information from Association of Marine Agencies of Ukraine (AMAU), the state corporation "Ukrmorport" has ordered a marine transport research institute in Odessa a programme of bringing to order agent and forwarding activities in the ports of Ukraine. The aim of Ukrmorport is a reduction in number of agent and forwarding companies as allegedly unprofitable to the state mediator structures. The programme is proposed to be introduced since September 1 this year.

The AMAU management is considering this programme as an unlawful interference of state into forwarding and agent operations in Ukrainian ports. AMAU believes should this programme be introduced, the commercial agent and forwarding structures may lose their scope of operations, and the state will lose the workplaces and cargoflows, attracted by the forwarders, including transit ones.
