Ukraine – country with the most rapidly growing fruit & vegetable production in Eastern Europe
According to fundamental analyses of Fruit-Inform, Ukraine is becoming a regional leader in development of fruit & vegetable production and exports. According to our estimate, supply of commercially grown vegetables in Ukraine in the past five years has increased by more than 1,5mn tons, supply of potatoes – by almost 1mn ton and supply of fruits – by 300,000 tons. As the result Ukraine has become one of the major suppliers of tomatoes and apples to Russia and exported relatively large volumes of watermelons and onions to the EU countries.
Even more evident changes occurred in the production structure with a lot of farmers adapting the most modern technologies. Ukraine is now one of the European leaders in terms of fruits & vegetables grown under drip irrigation and actively develops its storage and marketing infrastructure. According to official sources in 2011 along, more than 100 modern cold storage facilities of large capacity are being built in Ukraine. Some of them are as large as 50,000 tons. Two modern wholesale markets have already opened in largest Ukrainian cities and three more are to open next years.
Therefore, it is not surprising that European suppliers of modern technologies for production, storage and PHH of potatoes, fruits & vegetables are rushing to Ukraine to take advantage of the momentum. This has convinced Fruit-Inform to offer all market participants an opportunity for production exchange of information and ideas and launch the first truly international technological Exhibition for professional growers, traders and processors Fresh Produce Ukraine 2011. The exhibition is organized in the most modern exhibition complex of Ukraine in cooperation with duth company BTO and a Ukrainian partner COD, who have extensive experience in organizing high quality exhibitions. Exhibition is built around our traditional annual conference, which has been the most significant industry event for seven years already.
As of today more than 50 companies from 10 world countries have already booked stands at the exhibition (70% of the area) and another 100+ companies have expressed their preliminary interest. About 10,000 visitors (80% from Ukraine and the remaining mainly from Moldova, Russia & Belarus) with most of the visitors being large and medium farmers and produce traders.
Exhibition is sponsored by the Chilean Fresh Fruit Association .
