2012 to be the best time to invest in Ukrainian potato, vegetable production and storage business
According to Fruit-Inform, the year 2012 will be the best time to invest in production and/or storage of traditional vegetables (onions, white cabbages, red beets, carrots) and potatoes in Ukraine.
Fruit-Inform has already started conducting the Ukraine fundamental potato and vegetable production and price forecast specially for the 4th International Conference “Potatoes and Vegetables of Ukraine – 2012”. Preliminary results of this study show a high probability of the prices for potatoes, onions, carrots, red beets and white cabbages to be significantly higher than in 2011 that will ensure a high profitability of produce growing in the country. One of the reasons for the price growth will be Ukrainian farmers' inability to maintain current production areas and purchase relatively high-quality seeds due to their losses in this season. In addition, we expect a sharp decrease in households' interest to production of these crops. In such a way, we forecast a reduction of both production areas and average yields of the above-mentioned products in Ukraine.
Specially for the conference “Potatoes and Vegetables of Ukraine – 2012”, Fruit-Inform will prepare the vegetable and potato production and storage investment attractiveness analysis with the assessment of the most optimal areas, production regions and investment recoupment period. In addition, an active work on searching for new target markets for produce stored in Ukraine has been already started. The results of this work will be shared with all conference participants. It will be also important that all Ukrainian producers participating in the event will receive a strong promotional support from the conference organizers.
The conference program is available here. To take part in the event, please fill out an application form.
The conference will take place at President Hotel, Kiev, Ukraine, February 16-17, 2012. For more information, please contact International Relations Department of Fruit-Inform by phone: +380 96 5836323 (Ievgen Kuzin), or via e-mail: [email protected].
