Agricultural Marketing Project takes part in the discussion of the future informational support of the players of Ukrainian agricultural market
Andriy Yarmak, Deputy Director of Agricultural Marketing Project, on the 15th of December took part in the extended meeting of Ukrainian Agricultural Conference, where the questions of the current state of informational support for agricultural market players were discussed. He presented the report on the topic "The density of information services market for agricultural enterprises of Ukraine and needs for new sources of information".
Andriy Yarmak stressed that the market of informational services for agricultural sector of Ukraine is rather dense at this moment, and whoever interested in the information can get it. Still, the support by high quality market information for the producers remains unsatisfactory. Farmers and the majority of large agricultural enterprises mainly receive the publications practically full with advertising technological information, which is of no use for a successful decision making in the market conditions. Till the present moment the state has made no efforts to provide the producers with the objective information. It has a significant negative influence on the rates of the agricultural sector development for the economics of Ukraine.
The meeting participants stated that to solve this burning problem it is wise to involve private informational agencies and analytical companies, which, unlike the governmental bodies, possess the developed technologies and great experience of collection, analysis and processing of the market information, and its quality is guaranteed by the payment basis of the informational support.
The dissemination of the information in the rural area, where the most part of the producers have no liaison services (not even mentioning Internet), is really a serious problem. For information dissemination it was suggested to use the net of consulting services (it is in the formation process now in Ukraine), and also farmer organizations, such as associations and cooperatives.
The meeting participants were interested in the positive experience of Agricultural Marketing Project concerning operational preparation and dissemination of the quality market information among the farmers in many regions of Ukraine. In its turn, AMP specialists said they are ready to share experience with whoever interested in the improvement of the informational support for agricultural sector of Ukraine.
Basing on the conclusions of the meeting, the decision of Ukrainian Agricultural Conference was agreed - to make an open statement "Concerning the insufficient objectivity of the informational support for agricultural markets", there not only this cutting edge problem will be addressed, but also the concrete ways to solve it.
