The seminar "Marketing of vegetables for farmers and owners of the private households in Zakarpattya" has been conducted in Mukachevo
On the 16th of December, 2004, the seminar "Marketing of vegetables for farmers and owners of the private households in Zakarpattya" was conducted in Mukachevo, Zakarpattya oblast. The objective of the seminar was to introduce to the farmers the possibilities to growth vegetables under the contract with the processing enterprise and by means of it to guarantee the sales of the produced commodities.
"Corado Canning Inc", the Zakarpattya processing enterprise, took an active part in the seminar. Julia Olefirenko, the Director of the enterprise, informed the participants about the needs in vegetables which the enterprise has, the requirements to the quality of the commodities, the mechanisms of vegetable purchase from farms and private households, price politics and terms of crediting of farm business.
Aleksandr Koval, Marketing Specialist of Zakarpattya office, Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP), presented the report "Modern marketing of fruit and vegetable commodities" and told about the possibilities for Zakarpattya farmers to choose crops for growing, to define sales channels, to find out the perspectives of the contracted production.
The Zakarpattya farms have just started to implement the effective agricultural business, so even the seminar dedicated to the marketing issues could not but touch upon the topics of production technologies. In this regard the representatives of "Nunhems", "Rijk Zwaan", "Syngenta", "Rize-Agroservice" and Alexander Matviets, Agronomist of Zakarpattya AMP office presented their reports.
Vasiliy Voloshyn, the head of farm in the village Bolshiye Luchki, shared his successful experience - in 2004 under AMP support on the field of 0,1 hectare he successfully produced and sold cucumbers for the processing enterprise. The main component to bring success was the usage of drip irrigation system, black film, high quality seeds and plant protection assets. In 2005 he is planning to increase the acreage of cucumber producing fields to 1 hectare.
According to the opinion of the seminar participants, the events organized under AMP support are very effective, they let all the interested get the significant part of the useful information, communicate with the colleagues and ask the specialists about some problems and make new business contacts.
