Ukraine will be the first CIS country where SmartFresh technology for maintenance of apple freshness is to be presented

On December 6th, 2006 the unique technology SmartFresh, focused on the maintenance of apple freshness, will be demonstrated for the first time on the territory of CIS. The technology will be presented in the framework of the specialized forum "Modern Technologies of cooling and long-term storage of vegetables, fruits and berries. CA and ULO technologies" included to the program of the third international conference "Fruits and Vegetables 2006. Open Market".

The technology SmartFresh started to be widely implemented in the EU countries only past year. The presentation of the technology by its developer AgroFresh company, UK, in our country practically just after the technology debut on the EU market witnesses the growing role of Ukraine on European produce market. The technology presupposes the stronger protection of apples from ethylene which speeds up apple ripening. This approach let the producers preserve high flavor qualities of apples for a much longer period of time. The technology is especially topical for Ukraine where a huge deficit for quality storages of apples, as well as other fruits and vegetables is observed. There are no Controlled Atmosphere storages in Ukraine at all.
