A record number of produce business professionals will participate in the international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2006. Open Market"

"Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the organizer of the third international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2006. Open Market" stopped accepting applications for participation in the conference.

The tentative analysis of the list of participants of the conference witnesses that it will literally be the most large-scale event for the produce business in Eastern Europe 2006. By the present moment more than 400 professionals of the produce business from 16 world countries have confirmed their participation.

There are 45 professional presentations in the conference program which concern all aspects of the produce business from production to marketing of vegetables, fruits and berries.

In fact, each serious company of the produce sector of Ukraine should attend such event, whether it be large producer, processor, wholesaler, supplier of equipment, inputs or machinery, or the representative of the supermarket chain. That's why a company - participant of the conference has registered in average more than 2 persons; some large companies registered 8-10 participants.

AGRIMATCO UKRAINE is a general sponsor of the conference. This company is the largest international supplier of inputs, machinery and equipment; year by year it is steadily consolidating its position on Ukrainian market.

OLVITA company, Ukrainian enterprise with Dutch investments has been sponsoring the conference for the second year already. This company leads the market of fresh lettuces and fresh-cut salads; it is the hugest supplier of fresh produce and a key player of flash frozen berry, fruit and vegetable market. AGROPACK company is the other sponsor; it is one of the leaders of Russian market of produce packing.

"Rusbana Engineering" company sponsors the forum which is dedicated to post harvest handling, storage and packing of the produce items. There are presentations in the forum program which are to be made by such well-known companies as American AgroFresh company (SmartFresh technology), English Sortex (Buhler Group), Russian PHYTOMAG company, Dutch Altracon company and others.

Fruit and berry forum promises to be very interesting as well. It is sponsored by American Ekland Marketing Company of California which has experience of strawberry production in 45 countries. The company has ambitious plans for Ukraine too. During this forum there is a possibility to get information about commercial production of blueberries and Japan quince, as well as other non-traditional crops. The representative of Dutch Goossens Flevoplant company will speak on this forum. The company specializes on the production of strawberry seedlings in cooperation with "Podillya Plant" company in Vinnitsa. Ukraine. So, the forum will be valuable for anyone dealing with berries.

A well-known scientist and practitian Prof. Alexander Melnik, the Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, the Chief of Fruit and Grape Production Department, Uman State Agrarian University, will speak about the trends observed in modern orcharding technologies. Practically all the largest fruit producers in Ukraine will participate in the forum.

There is also an interesting forum on vegetable production in the conference program. Dutch RIJK ZWAAN company, one of the most innovative seed companies, sponsors this forum. There are such companies as AGRIMATCO-UKRAINE, SYNGENTA, PRESENCE and others among the forum speakers. The forum is chaired by Prof. Zinoviy Sych, famous Ukrainian scientist, the Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, the Chief of Vegetable Production Department, National Agrarian University.

The trade forum is designed for everyone who is interested in fruit and vegetable sale or purchase. It has aroused a great interest among the conference participants. There are 10 presentations of the produce suppliers and buyers from the various countries in the world included to the forum program. Mr. Marec Marzec, the representative of METRO Group from Poland, Mr. Yuri Boguslavskiy, the Director of OLVITA company, Mr. Maxim Didenko, the representative of Fozzy Group, Mr. Victor Golinka, the Director of UNIVER cannery and many others will speak too. The reports about the perspectives of the international trade of the produce with Poland, Moldova, Georgia and Macedonia done by the analysts of these countries should also be very interesting.

Mr. Yuri Melnik, the Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine, and Mr. Leonid Kozachenko, the President of Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation will report on state policy regarding fruit and vegetable business.
