AMP demosites and market information in 2007
The activities of the regional offices of the Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP) were finished in the oblasts in the end of 2006. Despite of this fact, many regional offices of the Project have consulted with the clients and decided to continue this business on a profit basis. The market information system continues working as well. After the Project activities are complete in Ukraine, the market information system will be supplemented by new information products.
At the present moment the principal decision has been made regarding National Field days conduction in Cherkasy oblast. These events will be dedicated to modern technologies in vegetable production and orcharding. The Project specialists invite all interested companies (the suppliers of seeds, irrigation systems, plant protection assets, fertilizers, equipment and machinery, and also the providers of the solutions for produce packing, post harvest handling and storage) to discuss the format, time and terms of Field days conduction. It is planned that National Field days become highly recognized events; the best Ukrainian and foreign experts will be engaged, the most advanced technologies of produce growing, handling, storage, packing and marketing will be demonstrated. To conduct the events, we plan to use the wide experience accumulated during AMP activities in Ukraine.
The market information system of the Project includes www.lol.org.ua site and "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal. These information sources will headline and provide informational support to these events. Other informational periodicals - providers of information to farmers and other produce market players - are invited to participate in the Field days as well.
In the end of 2006 AMP put forward the initiative to create National Association of the Produce Growers of Ukraine; this step was supported by many companies. At the present moment around 50 companies expressed their preamble desire to participate in the creation of such organization. The detailed information about this initiative will be published soon on www.lol.org.ua site. The possibility for open discussion of the specifics of the Association work, the application form for participation in this process will be available on site as well. The most interesting opinions regarding the role of this organization, its structure and financing patterns will also be published in "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal and on site.
