Prices for fruit and vegetable produce to have decreased at the Ukrainian market within the last week
Fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform shows that cost of fruit and vegetable basket of a Ukrainian consumer decreased by 2% within the previous week. So, within the last 3 weeks, a set of main fruits and vegetables of Ukraine decreased in price by 3%.
The main reason of decrease of cost of basket is a lasting decrease of prices for fruits that has started already 3 weeks ago. Within the last week, fruit basket of a Ukrainian consumer decreased in price by 3%, primarily due to grapes and oranges.
For the first time since October, prices for glass-grown vegetables slightly decreased too. Market participants realized that the further growth of prices is fraught with even sharper decrease of purchasing capacity of Ukrainians. In addition, a certain pressure on prices for tomatoes was exerted by smuggling supplies of tomatoes from Poland.
At the same time, prices for borsch set were firstly for the long time stable during the last week. But changes in this market will begin already in the following weeks, as to our estimations.
