Poorly selling of imported grapes in Ukraine

As to Fruit-Inform Project, high prices for imported table grapes exert negative influence on their sales. As of today, the season of imported table grapes produced in Italy came almost to the end, and wholesale prices for them are reaching UAH 27/kg (EUR 2.57/kg). Prices for Turkish grapes are also extremely high – about UAH 20/kg (EUR 1.90/kg). At the same time, there are too little domestic grapes at the market, so they are not able to compete with imported ones.

At this level of prices for grapes, it is very hard for them to compete with tangerines, oranges and bananas for consumer, as wholesale prices for these categories are fixed within UAH 10-13/kg (EUR 0.95-1.24/kg). The most attractive position is disposed by apples that have wholesale prices at UAH 4-6/kg (EUR 0.38-0.57/kg).
