Fruit and veg prices increased by 6% in Russia
Russian fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform Project shows that the cost of fruit and vegetable basket of Russian consumers grew by 6% over the first month of 2011 notwithstanding 2% decrease over the last week.
The main reason for growth was increase of prices for traditional vegetables, such as potatoes, onions, carrots, beets, and cabbages, as well as fruits. As to fruit categories, sharp decrease of prices was registered for lemons, oranges, and mandarins. At the same time, prices for apples kept on growing. Moreover, market participants expect further growth of prices for apples in the nearest time.
Most fruits and vegetables in the Russian market are more expensive than in the Ukrainian one. At the same time, differences in prices for apples (85%), carrots (135%), and beets (72%) create excellent opportunities for purchase of this produce in Ukraine.
You will be able to communicate with major producers and suppliers of potatoes and vegetables from Ukraine during the third international conference “Potato and Vegetables of Ukraine-2011”.
This event is to take place at Shuvar wholesale market, Lvov, Ukraine, February 24-25, 2011. On-line registration is available through this link.
