Ukraine intensifying carrot and beet supplies to Russia

According to information of Fruit-Inform Project, Ukrainian producers are actively supplying carrots and beets to the Russian market.

In particular, carrot exports were record-breaking in December 2010; supply volumes over the first 6 months of the current season were 13.5 times more than in last season; and carrot imports decreased 130 times over the same period of time. Beet imports decreased in the current season too. These are another corroborations of Fruit-Inform Project's forecasts announced in August 2010.

As of January, good opportunities for vegetable exports from Ukraine to the Russian market were in effect and supplies were conducted rather actively. Current prices for carrots in Russia are more than 2 times higher than in Ukraine; prices for beets are 72% higher.

More detailed information of prospects in vegetable and potato exports and imports, price and production forecasts for the current and next seasons, technological aspects of vegetable and potato growing, storage, post-harvest handling and marketing will be available during work of the third international conference “Potato and Vegetables of Ukraine-2011”.
