Fruit and veg prices keeping on decreasing in Russia

Russian fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform Project shows the cost of Russian consumers' fruit and vegetable basket has decreased by 4.8% at once over the last week. In such a way, fruit and vegetable price decrease trends are remaining in Russia. Over the last 2 weeks fruit and vegetable prices have already decreased by almost 7%.

We should note that prices decreased for each of three main categories of produce (traditional vegetables and potatoes, greenhouse vegetables, and fruits) that is rather rarely observed. The sharpest price decrease was registered for traditional vegetables (6%); the highest price fluctuations – as usual for greenhouse vegetables.

We should also mention the price decrease for potatoes and onions, the products that have previously been predominantly growing in price. Russia is keeping on actively purchasing potatoes and root vegetables in Ukraine, where their prices are currently considerably lower (by 70-100%).
