Ukraine's cabbage market can be saved only by weather
Cabbage production in Ukraine can grow by 20-25% in the season 2011/12 and break a longstanding record. Such a conclusion was drawn by analysts of Fruit-Inform Project after detailed analysis of data received during survey of farmers and seed-breeding companies in the course of preparing the fundamental study “Fruit and Vegetable Market of Ukraine-2011: Results and Forecasts for the Next Season”.
It appears that Ukraine will face overproduction of cabbage as in the current season farmers broke records both in area and purchased volumes of seed cabbage. Analysts think that the market can be saved only by weather as it will be quite difficult to sell large quantities of cabbage for export.
