Fruit and vegetable prices decreasing in Ukraine for the third week in a row

Fruit-Inform Project's fruit and vegetable index shows that fruit and vegetable prices have further decreased by 0.9% in Ukraine last week. Cumulatively, they decreased by 9% over last three weeks.

The most significant contribution to fruit and vegetable price reduction was made by greenhouse vegetables and fruits. Greenhouse cucumber and tomato consumption kept on growing, and their prices continued to decrease. The same trends were observed in the market for garden strawberries which became 20% cheaper last week. We should also mention an average 8% decrease of prices for imported bananas, mandarins, and oranges.

Early cabbage kept on falling in price too, and its supply went on growing. Consumers preferred early produce, although sellers of last year's cabbage tried to sustain prices at the high level.

Price increase was registered only for potatoes. Experts of Fruit-Inform Project think that big producers' mass harvesting of early potatoes being three weeks later this year let suppliers of last year's produce increase prices.
