Supply of watermelons and tomatoes to grow sharply in Ukraine next week

According to Fruit-Inform Project, the Ukrainian market expects sharp growth of supply of field-grown tomatoes, melons and watermelons next week. This will lead to stronger pressure on prices which are already relatively low.

However, processors' demand for tomatoes will most likely grow approximately in the end of next week, as processing enterprises plan to start their canning and tomato paste season at this time. As to watermelons, increase in households' demand for them is expected next week too, although watermelon prices will anyway decrease again due to expectations of high watermelon production in the country and notwithstanding good export prospects.

We would remind you that a unique opportunity to meet with Russian purchasers of fruits and vegetables and get detailed information about present situation and development prospects of Russia's fruit and vegetable market will be provided during the Fourth International Conference “Fruit & Vegetable Business of Russia – 2011”. The event will take place in conjunction with World Food Moscow, September 14, 2011. Registration of the conference participants is currently in active progress.
