Ukraine. 28.5% fresh produce deflation in September

As Fruit-Inform has forecast earlier, fruits, vegetables and potatoes became averagely 28.5% less expensive in Ukraine in September. In such a way, fresh produce has been steadily decreasing in price for 4.5 months (since the mid-May)!

Traditional vegetables (onions, carrots, white cabbages, red beets) showed the sharpest average price decrease rate in September: 37.5% with onion prices having decreased more than 2-fold. Potato prices fell by a third, greenhouse vegetables – by 16.5%, fruit prices – by 8.8%.

“Our price forecasts for September were fully corroborated notwithstanding the majority of market participants thinking in August that there would no price falls anymore”, Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform, says. “At the same time, prices will most likely stabilize in October and even grow for seasonal produce which is not suitable to long-term storage”, the expert continues.

More information about the current situation in the Russian and Ukrainian fresh produce markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly.

We would also remind you that Fruit-Inform's updated fresh produce price forecast for Ukraine will be presented next week. The study contains the produce quality assessment, its storage potential, many other important information about Ukraine's fresh produce market and is available to order here.
