3.7-fold year-on-year decrease of vegetable and potato prices in Ukraine
Fruit-Inform's fruit and vegetable index shows that last week the prices for traditional vegetables and potatoes decreased averagely by 18.3% week-on-week, after a 19.2% week-on-week decrease a week earlier. In such a way, over the past 2 weeks, traditional vegetables and potatoes became more than 37% less expensive. Moreover, as of early November, these products are averagely 3.7-fold lower in price year-on-year in Ukraine.
In such a way, Fruit-Inform's forecasts made in December 2010 are being fully corroborated. The forecast for the end of the current season and the whole next season will be presented at the Eighth International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine – 2011. New Exporter”. This event will take place in conjunction with Fresh Produce Ukraine 2011 Fair, IEC, Kiev, Ukraine, November 30 – December 2, 2011.
White cabbages lead in the traditional vegetable and potato price decrease, as they are 6.6-fold less expensive year-on-year in Ukraine now. Onion prices fell 4.4-fold year-on-year, red beet prices – 2.3-fold, carrot prices – 1.9-fold. Potatoes decreased in price 3.3-fold year-on-year. Furthermore, Fruit-Inform's analysts do not expect the growth of the prices for traditional vegetables and potatoes by the end of this season with the exception of the local price fluctuations in winter due to the logistics troubles.
