Georgia and Azerbaijan start importing Ukrainian potatoes
According to Fruit-Inform, Ukrainian producers try to get rid of potato surplus in the internal market. In particular, the first large lots of potatoes were exported to Georgia and Azerbaijan in October. Export shipments can grow even more in November.
High attention to this promising export destination for Ukrainian potatoes and traditional vegetables was given during the Eighth International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine – 2011. New Exporter”. First of all, this might be interesting for fruit suppliers from Georgia and Azerbaijan, who can optimize their transport costs and get additional profit by importing potatoes and traditional vegetables from Ukraine.
Nevertheless, potato exports to these countries are still very low with respect to the surplus in Ukraine, therefore they have no considerable impact on the market situation.
