Nikolaev port processed over 1 mln t of Belarusian potassium fertilisers
The volumes of transits of Belarusian potassium fertilisers through Ukrainian port of Nikolaev have increased and for the first time since mid-1990's reached 1.094 million tonnes over the year, Ukrinform news agency wrote.
The Ukrainian and Belarusian partners are increasing investment in the business. Thus, in addition to the existing 20,000-tonne accumulating fertiliser storehouse in the port there is another such facility under construction, the capacity of which will be 50 percent more. It is to be put in operation in the first half of 2004.
A part of the fertiliser cargos is delivered to Nikolaev through inland waterways, by the route from Belarusian river port of Mozyr, with the use of Belarusian river fleet. The partners to the business arrange the schedules of passing by the caravans of ships the locks on the Dnepr and their arrivals to the seaport, to be placed for transhipment of the cargo directly onto ocean vessels. One of the last such caravans in this navigation season has arrived to Nikolaev port recently.
