Russian government issued resolution about regulation of beef, pork and poultry meat imports
On March 5 the Head of Russian government Mikhail Fradkov signed a resolution "About additional measures on regulation of imports of poultry meat, beef and pork". According to this document, in case of imposition by the State Veterinary Service of a complete or partial ban onto import of fresh, cooled or frozen poultry meat, beef or pork from any supplying country (a union of countries) due to unfavourable epizootic situation in this country (union), the participant of foreign trade activities, holding a licence for imports of the above-mentioned goods from this supplying country (union), has a right for re-issuance of the licence for import of the same products in the same amount from another supplying country, irrespective of the total volume of quota, previously set up for this country (union).
In case of introduction of a complete or partial on imports of goods due to unfavourable epizootic situation in some of the countries, the Ministry of Agriculture is obliged to inform the Ministry of Economic Development and the State Customs Committee of Russian Federation about introduction of such ban in a 3-day term since the date of actual start of the ban.
