"Khlib Ukrainy" asks for funds to buy 2003 crop grain

State Joint Stock Company of Ukraine "Khlib Ukrainy" asks the government to allocate 150 million hryvnias from the reserve fund to buy 2003 crop milling grain for state intervention stocks, the Head of the Company Victor Bondarenko said on Monday. At present this proposal is discussed by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

According to V. Bondarenko, "Khlib Ukrainy" plans to buy import grain and use it only as intervention reserve in case of prices fluctuation on the domestic market.

"Khlib Ukrainy" has bought 335,000 of 2003 crop milling grain by present, including 140,000 tonnes of grain using mortgage purchases.

The Company's storage capacity is 7 million tonnes of grain and processing capacity is 4 million tonnes of grain. It has two port elevators in Odessa and Nikolaev.
