Livestock numbers in Ukraine dropping
According to State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, the number of cattle in the country as of April 1, 2004 dropped 15.3 percent from the same date last year - to 8.115 million heads. The number of cows dropped 8.9 percent on a year - to 4.274 million heads.
The number of hogs as of April 1 dropped 23.7 percent from last year - to 6.855 million heads.
The number of poultry as of April 1 this year was 127 million heads, which is 97 percent of the number, registered as of April 1, 2003.
The number of sheep and goats dropped 7.3 percent from the same date last year - to 2.056 million heads.
