Winter apple harvesting to start 2 weeks earlier in Ukraine
Producers from the southern regions of Ukraine plan to start the winter apple harvesting campaign already in late September that is averagely 10-14 days earlier than usual. Changes in harvesting terms are connected with very hot summer. Moreover, farmers expect the quality of fruits to be higher year-on-year.
Growers plan to store the biggest part of grown apples at least to early winter. They hope that prices will grow at least to UAH 4.50-5.50/kg (EUR 0.44-0.53/kg) by that time. According to producers, sales at current prices (UAH 3.50-5.00/kg – EUR 0.34-0.48/kg) are senseless.
