Ukrainian growers increase apple yields
Apple yields have almost doubled in Ukraine over the past 7 years that contributed to continuing yearly growth in the country's apple production. At the same time, areas under apple orchards have been gradually declining mainly due to grubbing old low-yielding orchards.
Ukraine's apple production has grown by 37% in the past 7 years, while areas under apple orchards decreased by 15%. Nowadays, Ukrainian growers are actively investing in the apple business. As a result, commercial farms have already reached yields of 35-40 centners per ha. Moreover, the experts see the Ukrainian orchards' potential in 60-70 centners per ha.
We would remind you that the apple business will be given high attention at the 9th International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine – 2012”, while domestic and foreign apple suppliers will be able to conduct direct negotiations with retailers and importers at the 2nd Ukrainian-Russian Trade Forum.
Both events will be held in conjunction with Fresh Produce Ukraine 2012 Expo, Kiev, November 28-30, 2012.
