WAPA lowers EU Braeburn apple production forecast
WAPA (World Apple & Pear Association) has lowered the EU Braeburn apple production forecast for the season 2012/13.
According to updated data, production of this variety will amount to just 255,000 tonnes in the EU countries. Such a result is 11,000 tonnes lower than expected earlier and 22% less than last year's production. We would remind you that the EU growers picked 324,000 tonnes of these apples in 2011.
In general, Braeburn production will be the lowest since 2003 when it reached only 238,000 tonnes.
