China's pear exports to Russia up

According to Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, the country imported 10,200 tonnes of Chinese pears in the period from July to November 2012 that was almost 10% higher year-on-year.

Fruit-Inform experts connect an increase in Chinese exports to Russia with higher pear production in China in this season.

The highest import volumes were registered in November (2,800 tonnes), while the lowest – in July (about 1,200 tonnes).

It should also be noted that China's share in Russia's total pear imports has varied between 5-7% over the past 3 seasons.

Currently, China is the sixth largest pear exporter to the Russian Federation. Only Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Argentina export more.
