Russia's imports of Polish cabbages up

Polish growers of Chinese and white cabbages faced market troubles in March this year. Produce prices remain low in view of abundant supply of cabbages in the country.

At the same time, Polish exports of Chinese and white cabbages to the CIS countries slightly grew in March 2013 compared with the same month of the previous year.

Russia traditionally was the main importer of cabbages from Poland. Russian importers purchased 8,600 tonnes of Polish Chinese cabbages in March this year, an increase of 2% year-on-year. Russia's imports of Polish white cabbages reached 4,700 tonnes, 9 times of imports in March 2012. Belarus increased imports of Chinese cabbages from Poland by 66% to 1,600 tonnes.
