Poland's pear exports up in 2012
According to the official statistics, Poland shipped 39,000 tonnes of pears for export in 2012, an increase of 56% year-on-year. The export values stood at 25 mln euro.
Russia, Belarus and Ukraine were the main export markets for Polish pears in 2012. Russia raised imports of pears from Poland by 65% to 29,000 tonnes. Belarus also imported more Polish pears: an increase of 50% to 4,500 tonnes. Exports to Ukraine were stable and remained at the level of 4,000 tonnes.
According to WAPA data, Polish pear production decreased by 18% in the season 2012/13 and reached just 45,000 tonnes.
