Ukraine's grape import geography changes in March
Ukraine imported almost 2,000 tonnes of grapes in March 2013, 2.6 times of imports in the same month of last year. Ukraine's grape imports geography also changed in March this year.
In March 2012, Ukraine imported grapes from eight countries: Chile (36.4% of total imports), South Africa (23%), Peru (15.1%), Argentina (10.3%), Greece (7.2%), India (6%), Spain (1.3%) and Namibia (0.7%).
However, this year a number of grape suppliers decreased to five. The highest volumes of grapes were re-exported to Ukraine through Poland (1,100 tonnes) and the Netherlands (739 tonnes). The share of South African exports decreased to 3.3%; Argentina accounted for only 2% of Ukraine's total grape imports.
