Ukraine: strawberry and sweet cherry prices lower year-on-year
According to Fruit-Inform, wholesale prices of strawberries and sweet cherries do not make growers happy in Ukraine in first days of summer. However, they turned out to be a pleasant surprise for Ukrainian consumers.
“As we have forecast, higher interest in growing strawberries and cherries in the past few years led to an increase in their supply and lower prices”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “Pricing is also negatively affected by problems with exports of these perishable products due to more difficult customs clearance procedures in Ukraine”.
As at June 1, 2013, strawberry and sweet cherry prices varied between UAH 11-14/kg (EUR 1.06-1.35/kg) and UAH 11-13/kg (EUR 1.06-1.25/kg), respectively.
