Summer apples may grow in price in Ukraine, Russia and Moldova next week
With closer Savior of the Apple Feast Day, growers from Russia, Ukraine and Moldova expect a traditional surge of consumption activity in the apple market. The Savior of the Apple Feast Day is an Orthodox holiday falling on August 19, therefore, according to sellers' forecasts, the apple sales peak will be registered next week.
Growers plan to raise prices by 10-20% at least. Furthermore, Ukrainian and Moldovan farmers expect an increase in exports to Russia. At the same time, according to Fruit-Inform, consumption activity usually sharply decreases after the holiday, which, in view of a seasonal growth of supply, may lead to a significant fall in apple prices.
We would remind you that more detailed information on the Eastern European apple market developments will be presented at the 3rd International Conference “Apple Business of Ukraine & Russia – 2013”, which is to take place on August 15-16, 2013, Donetsk, Ukraine.
