Russian farms ready to sell white cabbage at prices lower year-on-year
Russian farmers reduced white cabbage prices this week due to sluggish demand for their produce connected with its low quality, according to Fruit-Inform. Farmers say of this season's weather conditions to have negatively affected the quality of middle-season varieties of white cabbage.
Under those conditions, sellers are ready to grant price concessions trying to boost sales of nonstandard produce in that way. Russian farms have already reduced prices of low-quality white cabbage to RUB 6-7/kg (EUR 0.14-0.16/kg) this week, while a week earlier prices of nonstandard produce varied between RUB 7-8/kg (EUR 0.16-0.18/kg).
In such a way, minimum prices of white cabbage have already fallen below last year's levels. We would remind you that last year minimum prices varied between RUB 8-9/kg (EUR 0.18-0.21/kg), and the quality of produce was better in August 2012.
