Russia: prices of apples for processing stabilize

Prices of apples for processing stabilized in Russia last week.

For the present, growers ship apples to canning factories at RUB 3.20-3.50/kg (EUR 0.07-0.08/kg). Some farms fixed prices of autumn varieties at RUB 3.50-4.00/kg (EUR 0.08-0.09/kg).

There is no clear positive development in prices of apples for processing despite a seasonal decrease in the supply of raw apples. The situation is connected with processors' restrained purchasing policy due to problems with sales of apple juice concentrate. Compared with the same period of 2012, minimum prices of apples for processing in Russia are now averagely 14% higher thanks to lower yields in apple orchards in the current season.
