Ukrainian farmers sharply reduce areas under white cabbage
According to Fruit-Inform, areas under white cabbage have significantly decreased in Ukraine in the current season.
“We have surveyed a lot of Ukrainian farmers from different regions of the country to update the fruit and vegetable production and price forecast for the season 2013/14”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “The survey showed that reduction of areas under white cabbage would be even more significant than we expected earlier due to many growers having simply abandoned their plans to produce white cabbage at the last moment”.
Reduction of areas is registered in the segments of middle-season and late white cabbages, while areas under early varieties did not change.
At the same time, despite a decrease in areas, white cabbage yields will not go down compared with the previous season thanks to favorable weather conditions in September.
