Poland reduces pear exports in first half of 2013
According to Central Statistical Office of Poland, the country shipped 12,000 tons of pears for export in the first half of 2013, a decrease of 20% year-on-year. For comparison, in the same period of the previous season, Poland's exports amounted to 15,000 tons.
Despite a decrease in imports, Russia still was the main export market for Polish pears. In the first half of 2013, Russian importers purchased about 6,000 tons of pears from Poland, a decrease of 40% from the first half of 2012. Belarus ranked second in imports of Polish pears with the import volumes standing at 2,900 tons. Ukraine was the third largest importer and purchased slightly more than 2,000 tons of pears from Poland.
