Season of imported bell peppers starts in Poland

The Polish market participants say of arrival of first quantities of imported bell peppers in the country last week.

Polish importers started purchasing thanks to relatively low prices of bell peppers in the Netherlands and Spain.

As a result, with an increase in imports and availability of domestic produce in the market, prices started going down.

Prices of domestic red bell peppers were reduced from 0.91-0.95 euro/kg to 0.83 euro/kg, the price levels of yellow ones went down from 0.95-1.00 euro/kg to 0.83-0.86 euro/kg, and prices of green ones decreased from 0.67-0.71 euro/kg to 0.52-0.62 euro/kg.

Last week prices of red bell peppers imported from Spain and Italy varied between 6.70-7.10 euro/carton (5 kg) and 5.50-5.74 euro/carton. Current prices average 4.31-5.26 euro/carton.
