Russia reduces Polish apple imports in September 2013

According to Federal State Statistics Service of Russia, the country purchased almost 10,000 tons of Polish apples in September 2013, a decrease of 41% year-on-year. For comparison, imports in September 2012 reached 17,000 tons.

Poland's cumulative exports of apples to the Russian Federation in Q3 2013 amounted to 30,000 tons, a decrease of 14% from the same period of the previous season. Russia still is the main export market for Polish apple suppliers with the share of 75% in Poland's total exports in Q3 2013.

We would remind you that Poland is the leader in apple exports to Russia. In the season 2012/13, Poland accounted for more than 52% in Russia's total imports of apples.
