Decrease in Ukrainian fresh produce price index

Fruit-Inform's Ukrainian fresh produce price index decreased by 2.9% in the week from November 9 to 15, after an increase of 3.1% a week before. In such a way, fruits and vegetables have become averagely 8% less expensive in Ukraine over the past 4 weeks. Nevertheless, the price index is still significantly higher year-on-year.

“Last week, prices of traditional vegetables again went down due to a seasonal increase in supply. Furthermore, the price index was negatively affected by a decrease in cucumber prices registered due to imports from Turkey and Spain”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “Moreover, none of the fresh categories grew in price in Ukraine last week”.

A sharp decrease of 15% was registered in carrot prices. White cabbage prices also kept on going down. Fruit prices did not change last week, as the fruit supply and demand were rather balanced in the country.

We would remind you that more information about current developments and future prospects in the Ukrainian and Russian fruit and vegetable markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly service package.
