An increase in 20% in Ukrainian fresh produce price index in November

Fruit-Inform's Ukrainian fresh produce price index grew by 5.9% in the week from November 23th to 29th, after a jump of 11.2% a week before. In such a way, the price index went up by 20% in November 2013. Furthermore, prices are significantly higher year-on-year.

“As a week before, the price index grew due to higher prices of onions and potatoes”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “Their price growth rates have already been record high, and prices are reaching a critical level, after which the Ukrainian market might start imports (onion ones, in particular)”.

Prices of greenhouse vegetables did not change for the first time over long period, as their consumption started going down after the end of the main domestic season in Ukraine.

Fruit prices also were stable last week. In the current season, unlike growers, Ukrainian consumers are certainly satisfied with the price levels of fruits.

We would remind you that more information about current developments and future prospects in the Ukrainian and Russian fruit and vegetable markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly service package.
