Potato prices up by 22% over a week in Kiev, Ukraine
Potato prices keep on growing in Kiev, Ukraine, according to Fruit-Inform price monitoring. In particular, within this week potato prices at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market went up by 22% and reached 0.50 euro/kg. Last week prices varied between 0.36-0.41 euro/kg.
Retail prices of potatoes at Kiev food markets and supermarket chains have already reached 0.55-0.73 euro/kg. A year before, they were not higher than 0.18 euro/kg.
Prices in the southern regions of Ukraine are even higher. In particular, in Odessa and Simferopol, prices at wholesale markets are not lower than 0.55 euro/kg, and retail price levels often exceed 0.73 euro/kg.
What potato prices are expected to be registered in Ukraine in February-April 2014? This and many other questions will be answered at the 6th International Conference “Potatoes & Vegetables of Ukraine-2014”, which is to be held on February 20, Kiev.
